About the Role

As Vessel Crew at LNM1968, you'll work aboard survey vessels supporting hydrographic mapping operations in coastal and offshore waters. You'll assist with deck operations, equipment handling, vessel maintenance, and support survey technicians during data collection missions.

This entry-level maritime role offers hands-on experience with marine survey operations and the opportunity to learn about hydrographic technology. You'll work alongside experienced captains, hydrographers, and marine technicians while developing valuable maritime skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with vessel operations including line handling and anchoring
  • Deploy and retrieve survey equipment such as sonar transducers and sensors
  • Maintain deck cleanliness and organization during survey operations
  • Assist hydrographic team with equipment setup and data collection
  • Perform routine vessel maintenance and cleaning tasks
  • Follow all safety protocols and assist with emergency procedures
  • Monitor weather conditions and assist captain as needed
  • Load and secure equipment and supplies for survey missions

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of maritime experience (commercial fishing, deckhanding, or similar)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work long hours in marine environments
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor
  • Swimming ability and comfort working on vessels in various sea conditions
  • Team player with positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to departure points

Preferred Skills

  • USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or Ordinary Seaman rating
  • Basic safety training (STCW or equivalent)
  • Experience with marine equipment and vessel operations
  • TWIC card for access to secure port facilities
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to assist with equipment maintenance
