About the Role

As a Side Scan Sonar Operator at LNM1968, you'll operate side scan sonar systems to create high-resolution seafloor imagery for object detection, pipeline inspections, wreck surveys, and underwater infrastructure assessments. You'll process sonar data, interpret imagery, and create mosaics and target reports.

This specialized role requires technical knowledge of sonar systems, ability to interpret underwater imagery, and experience working on survey vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate side scan sonar equipment during marine surveys
  • Process and interpret side scan sonar imagery
  • Create sonar mosaics and contact reports
  • Identify and classify underwater objects and features
  • Maintain and troubleshoot sonar equipment
  • Prepare survey reports and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with side scan sonar operations
  • Ability to interpret sonar imagery and identify targets
  • Experience working on marine vessels
  • Knowledge of sonar processing software
  • Physical ability to work in marine environments

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Klein, EdgeTech, or Marine Sonic systems
  • Magnetometer operation experience
  • Underwater archaeology or wreck survey background
  • USCG Merchant Mariner Credential
