Senior Hydrographer

About the Role

As a Senior Hydrographer at LNM1968, you'll plan and execute complex hydrographic surveys for ports, harbors, waterways, and offshore facilities. You'll operate advanced multibeam and single-beam echo sounders, process bathymetric data, and produce deliverables meeting stringent accuracy standards for nautical charting and engineering applications.

This senior-level position requires extensive experience with hydrographic survey systems, NOAA standards, and the ability to lead survey teams in challenging marine environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute hydrographic surveys to NOAA and IHO standards
• Operate multibeam sonar, side scan sonar, and magnetometer systems
• Process bathymetric data using CARIS HIPS and SIPS or similar software
• Conduct tidal analysis and apply water level corrections
• Prepare descriptive reports and bathymetric charts
• Lead and mentor junior hydrographers and survey crew
• Manage equipment calibration and maintenance

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, or related field
• 7+ years experience in hydrographic surveying
• Expert knowledge of NOAA Hydrographic Surveys Specifications and Deliverables
• Proficiency with CARIS HIPS, QPS Qimera, or similar software
• Experience with multibeam and side scan sonar operations
• Ability to work on vessels in various weather conditions

Preferred Skills

• Professional Hydrographer Certification (THSOA or similar)
• IHO Category A or B Hydrographic certification
• USCG Captain's license
• Experience with USACE or NOAA contract projects
