About the Role

As Marine Operations Manager at LNM1968, you'll oversee hydrographic survey missions from start to finish. You'll coordinate vessel charters, manage marine crews, ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations, and work closely with hydrographers to collect high-quality bathymetric data for coastal engineering, port development, and environmental monitoring projects.

This role requires extensive marine experience, strong leadership skills, and familiarity with hydrographic survey operations. You'll be responsible for mission planning, crew safety, equipment coordination, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute hydrographic survey operations from vessel platforms
  • Coordinate vessel charters, crew assignments, and marine logistics
  • Ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations and company protocols
  • Manage multibeam sonar, single-beam echo sounders, and side-scan sonar operations
  • Conduct pre-mission planning including tide coordination and weather monitoring
  • Supervise vessel crew and survey technicians during field operations
  • Maintain marine equipment inventory and coordinate vessel maintenance
  • Prepare marine operations reports and maintain project documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Science, Oceanography, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in marine operations or hydrographic surveying
  • USCG Captain's License (at least 25-ton or equivalent)
  • Experience with hydrographic survey systems (multibeam, single-beam, side-scan sonar)
  • Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and navigation
  • Excellent leadership and crew management skills
  • Valid TWIC card and ability to work in secure port facilities

Preferred Skills

  • Certified Hydrographer (ACSM, THSOA, or IHO)
  • Experience with NOAA hydrographic survey standards
  • Knowledge of QPS Qinsy, Hypack, or similar acquisition software
  • Experience managing government contracting projects (USACE, NOAA, Navy)
  • Background in underwater acoustics or marine geology
