About the Role

As a Hydrographer at LNM1968, you'll participate in hydrographic survey operations using single-beam and multibeam echo sounders, side scan sonar, and sub-bottom profilers. You'll process survey data, conduct quality checks, and prepare bathymetric products for marine construction, dredging, and nautical charting projects.

This position offers hands-on experience with advanced survey technology and opportunities to work on diverse marine projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate single-beam and multibeam sonar systems
  • Process bathymetric data using CARIS or similar software
  • Conduct data quality assessments and corrections
  • Assist with survey planning and equipment setup
  • Create bathymetric surfaces and contour maps
  • Prepare field notes and survey reports

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or related field
  • 2-5 years experience in hydrographic surveying
  • Knowledge of NOAA hydrographic standards
  • Experience with sonar operations and data processing
  • Ability to work on survey vessels

Preferred Skills

  • Hydrographer certification (THSOA)
  • Experience with CARIS HIPS and SIPS
  • Knowledge of tidal corrections and datums
  • USCG Merchant Mariner Credential
