Operate drones for geospatial mapping, LiDAR data collection, photogrammetry, and GIS surveys. Process aerial data into accurate maps, 3D models, and georeferenced deliverables for engineering and surveying projects.

About the Role

As a Drone Pilot with GIS/Mapping expertise at LNM1968, you'll conduct UAV operations for topographic surveys, construction site monitoring, photogrammetry missions, and LiDAR data acquisition. You'll plan flight missions using industry-standard software, collect high-accuracy geospatial data, and process imagery into orthomosaics, DEMs, point clouds, and other GIS deliverables.

This position requires FAA Part 107 certification, strong GIS/mapping knowledge, experience with photogrammetry software (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Agisoft Metashape), and the ability to deliver survey-grade data for engineering, construction, and government projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct UAV flights for mapping, surveying, and LiDAR data collection
  • Plan missions with RTK/PPK for high-accuracy geospatial data
  • Process aerial imagery into orthomosaics, DEMs, and 3D models
  • Generate point clouds from photogrammetry and LiDAR data
  • Integrate drone data with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Establish ground control points and validate survey accuracy
  • Deliver GIS-compatible deliverables in industry-standard formats

Required Qualifications

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required)
  • 3+ years drone mapping and GIS experience
  • Proficiency with photogrammetry software (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Metashape)
  • Experience with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper)
  • Understanding of surveying principles and coordinate systems
  • Experience with DJI Enterprise drones (Phantom 4 RTK, Matrice series)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites

Preferred Skills

  • LiDAR data processing experience (LP360, TerraSolid, LAStools)
  • RTK/PPK post-processing and ground control point setup
  • Civil 3D or AutoCAD experience for survey data integration
  • Degree or certification in GIS, surveying, or geomatics
  • Experience with construction site monitoring and volumetric analysis
  • Knowledge of Python scripting for GIS automation
