Bathymetric Technician

About the Role

As a Bathymetric Technician at LNM1968, you'll assist with hydrographic survey operations and process sonar data to create bathymetric surfaces, contours, and seafloor maps. You'll work with multibeam and single-beam echo sounder data, perform quality checks, and support deliverable preparation.

This position provides hands-on experience with bathymetric data processing and opportunities to develop skills in marine surveying.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with hydrographic survey field operations
• Process bathymetric data from sonar systems
• Create bathymetric surfaces and contours
• Perform data quality checks and corrections
• Assist with report preparation and deliverables
• Maintain survey equipment and files

Required Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field
• 1-2 years experience in surveying or hydrography
• Basic understanding of bathymetric data processing
• Willingness to work on vessels
• Strong attention to detail

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with CARIS or QPS software
• GIS or CAD software knowledge
• Awareness of NOAA hydrographic standards
• Marine experience or boat handling skills
