Ensure safe and reliable operation of manned and unmanned aircraft used in LiDAR and mapping missions. Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on survey aircraft and UAS platforms to meet FAA regulations and operational requirements.

About the Role

As an Aviation Maintenance Technician at LNM1968, you'll maintain the aircraft and drone platforms that carry our LiDAR sensors and cameras. You'll perform scheduled inspections, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure all aircraft meet FAA airworthiness standards before every mission.

This role requires technical expertise with both manned aircraft and UAS systems, strong attention to detail, and commitment to safety. You'll work closely with pilots and project managers to keep our fleet mission-ready and compliant with all regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on manned and unmanned aircraft
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections of aircraft and sensor systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and airworthiness records
  • Install and configure LiDAR sensors, cameras, and mission equipment
  • Coordinate with pilots on aircraft status and maintenance needs
  • Manage parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for specialized components
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications

Required Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or equivalent certification
  • 3+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance and repair
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and airworthiness directives
  • Experience with avionics systems, electrical troubleshooting, and diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field locations

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with UAS/drone maintenance and repair (DJI, senseFly, etc.)
  • Familiarity with LiDAR sensors, aerial cameras, and IMU/GNSS systems
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate
  • Experience with Cessna, Piper, or other general aviation aircraft
  • Knowledge of composite repair and sheet metal fabrication
